To truly understand the meaning of HBA, we have to start at the beginning. Hassan Bin Ali, a Bedouin boy who started working with HRH SH HAMDAN BIN RASHID AL MAKTOUM in the year 1973. SH HAMDAN had many interests and involved Hassan in many of them. His career turned when SH HAMDAN asked him to become his racing manager. Long days, weeks and months spent at race track taught Hassan all the ins and outs of horses and horse sport.

Even though horses are one of the most beloved symbols of Arab culture, there were many things to improve on. Hassan soon realized that what he learned from flat racing was inadequate for the longer distances. Nutrition and training had to be designed for the long run. Hence, he started doing blood tests on endurance horses to see if there was anything to improve. He found a selenium deficiency in most of the tested horses, which made him wonder about supplements.

Starting from the selenium anomaly he contacted several supplement manufactures from all over the world as well as laboratories and high profile research centers amongst other the Kentucky University. The outcome was astonishing, even though selenium was present in the supplements; tests confirmed that it made hardly any difference in the horse blood. This was enough to provoke Hassan to find the supplements that give a great advantage for the horses.
